Twitter never forgets.

Bollywood actor Salman Khan found himself in the centre of the spotlight in 2002 after he was accused of killing one man and injuring four others during a hit-and-run accident.

He was originally convicted in 2015, but later acquitted after a High Court cleared him of all charges.

Many however, still remember him as a key figure in the hit-and-run accident, which is why users on Twitter did not take to kindly to him giving a talk on safe driving.

"I see on the highway people racing... I lost a friend of mine. I am against that. Don't use main roads and put yourself and others, who are travelling with you, in danger," Khan said at an e-bicycle event.

He was helping to launch an e-bicycle service under his charitable organisation, the Being Human Foundation.

In 2015, Khan was sentenced to five years in jail, after he was charged with ramming into a roadside bakery in his Toyota Land Cruiser, killing one person, and wounding four others who were sleeping on the pavement.

Khan had argued that his driver had been behind the wheel, and the High Court had later quashed his conviction, citing insufficient evidence.
